District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is an organisation under the State government that aims to provide assistance to travellers. The DTPC has a governing body with the District Collector as Chairman and members from among officials, people’s representatives and tourism experts nominated by the Government.
It mainly focuses on the promotion of tourism through public and private participation, improving the infrastructure and standard of tourist places and products by ameliorating the sanitation facilities and marketing of local products. DTPC works through local governments, information dissemination and local basic infrastructure projects, promotion of paying guest scheme, heritage conservation and preservation, coordination of tourism clubs, creation of tourism awareness and preparation of host community to increase the standards of tourist destinations and perk up the tourism sector.
